Safety Notice | 300mm Mast Shift Ram Lug

The Kinghitter design team have identified a component issue on a small number of Kinghitter post drivers. This page explains what the issue is, which machines are affected, and what to do if you own one.

The affected component is the welded-on lug where the side-tilt ram connects to the mast shift. A small number of these welds have developed cracks over time. If a crack progresses far enough, the lug could pull out, which could cause the machine to tip over and endanger the operator. A design change addressing this was implemented in July 2026. Machines built after this design change, and all machines going forward, are not affected.

Which machines are affected?

This issue affects specific machine models manufactured between September 2020 and July 2026: *A detailed list of serial numbers affected can be found at the bottom of this page.

  • Series 2 & Series 2i machines with a 300mm Mastshift & Rockspike Kit.
  • Expander & Expander 2i machines with a 300mm Mastshift.

What to do if your machine is affected?

1. Check the lug for cracking. The lug is located where the side-tilt ram connects to the mast shift.
2. If you see any cracking, stop using the machine immediately and contact us using the details below.
3. If there's no cracking, your machine can continue to be used, but you still need to contact us to arrange a retrofit strengthening kit to be fitted.

The Fix:

We've developed a retrofit strengthening kit that is welded onto the machine to permanently resolve this issue. Farmgear will cover all reasonable and fair costs of this repair, regardless of your machine's warranty status. To arrange this, you'll need to complete a warranty claim form. From there, we'll liaise with your local engineer or dealer to obtain a quote for the scope of work. Work will only proceed once Farmgear has issued an order number for the job.
